Superb Empire gilt bronze clock representing Ulysses before his perilous return to his kingdom of Ithaca, recounted by Homer in the Odyssey.
Leaning on his spear, he is sitting near his shield. This forms the dial of this Empire period gilt bronze clock resting on zoomorphic feet formed by owls and snakes. On the base, the attributes of the goddess Minerva.
This model is very close to the model kept in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Illustrated in "La pendule française, 2ème partie, Tardy, 1969" page 372.
