This 18th century Cauchoise window has everything to seduce because it could be a masterful and unique decorative element as this marvelous sculpture in pine which was originally intended for the ballast of merchant ships returning from America and whose pine is said to Oregon facilitated the creation of beautiful and rich furniture, notably the famous Wedding Cabinets, the Clock, its little sister with its large enameled dial, was not left out. The prowess that the Ancient Normans found in this material and the inventive richness like the famous flowered basket which adorns this top of the clock as formerly the pediments and cornices of the large so-called Wedding Wardrobes and which made up the container for the trousseau of sheets, towels and everything the linen for the new home. This pretty piece is a reuse and tells the time using the battery mechanism on the back of the dial. Practical although not very Orthodox, did it save this beautiful and generous feat of carved wood? The flowered basket which makes up the top as well as the sides and the openwork base which do not stand out
this will make a beautiful decorative element on a wall console or simply on the fireplace....
