Exceptional set signed L. Leroy, bringing together a clock and two candlesticks, in red scale veneer with inlays of foliage scrolls taken up in carving in the manner of the marquetry of André-Charles Boulle. A rich ornamentation of gilded bronze adorns this set.
Founded in Paris in 1785 by Basile-Charles Leroy, Maison Leroy quickly carved out a solid reputation and boasted a prestigious clientele. This luxury watchmaker was thus a supplier to the French imperial family from 1805 and then to many crowned heads over the course of the century.
This unique clock is crowned with a domed pediment surmounted by two large finials, in the shape of flamboyant vases, and supported by bronze balusters.
The front has a door with an arched window. This is surrounded by a shaped and scalloped baguette, surmounted by an angel. On each side, a pilaster, with fine vertical threads of brass on scales, is embellished with a capital and a base in sculpted bronze.
This clock has a prestigious ornate dial and a gilded bronze sculpture depicting two angels holding a frame annotated "LeRoy AParis". This is accompanied by a mask representing a gorgon. A leaf garland and foliage complete the scene.
The sides of this clock also feature arched windows and rich brass inlays forming scrolls and arabesques.
The two chandeliers, mounted as a lamp according to your choice, complete this property.
This luxurious clock will delight lovers of rare and precious works of art.
