Imposing mantel set composed of a clock with a bronze sculpture representing an Italian fisherman with his son during a mandolin lesson, his nets at his feet, marble and blackened wood base with rich ornamentation (cherubs, shells, mythological dolphins, Poseidon's face...), richly decorated 6-light candelabra, Napoleon III period, 19th century.
This clock is in good condition and of exceptional quality. Its large dimensions make it highly decorative. The movement works, and we have the key and the pendulum.
The iconography focuses on the marine theme, with the Italian fisherman and his nets as the main subject, small putti seated on mythological dolphins on the clock and candelabra or seated inside large shells; and the face of the god Poseidon (Neptune) appearing on the bottom of the clock.
Please note: small accident to the marble on one side of the clock, some soiling and age-related wear, the small buttons between the cherubs on the candelabra bases are different, please see photos (complete files on our website).
