Louis XVI style clock in gilded bronze with Lions' Paw paw décor 19th century

A sublime neoclassical clock whose rectangular base is distinguished by its protruding angles, fluted projections and rich ornamentation: stylized acanthus leaves in the center (front and back) and numerous gadroons. The upper part is supported by four scrolled consoles, framed on the front by a laurel garland on a grid background repeated on all sides. In the center, a large, handsome enamel dial displays blue Roman numerals for the hours and black Arabic numerals for the minutes, enlivened by elegantly crafted dauphine hands. The bezel, with molding and beveled domed glass, and sides are flanked by lion masks holding drapery rings on a molded cilyndre. At the top, a rich fire pot with fixed lid, adorned with leafy handles, crowns the ensemble.<!--/data/user/0/com.samsung.android.app.notes/files/clipdata/clipdata_bodytext_250423_093202_869.sdocx-->

Bronze attributed to Henri Houdebine, with numerous pieces with letter H and numbering, and a study of the quality of the bronzes, mounting and gilding, as well as the Napoleon III period models and watchmakers' signatures.

Henri Houdebine founded his own company in 1845, where he earned a fine reputation for the manufacture of decorative bronzes and clocks. His works, judged to be of the highest quality, were inspired by, among other styles, the neo-Greek decorative repertoire, which was very fashionable in the 1860s. His work was an immediate hit with the public, and by 1855, it was estimated that 50? of his production was exported. Houdebine settled at 64, rue de Turenne, between 1865 and 1880. He participated brilliantly in several Universal Exhibitions, such as those held in Paris in 1855, where he was awarded a 2nd class medal for cups and statuettes, in London in 1862, and again in Paris in 1867, 1878 and 1889, where he won a gold medal for all his exhibited works. Houdebine was again present at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, exhibiting torchères, clocks and even a few sculptures.
