Gilt bronze, patinated and bronzes clock and sea green marble circa 1805 .
The green patinated bronze bollard features a lyre in the center and two pilasters adorned with arrows, acacia branches and a rose window. Each side is adorned with a gilded bronze caduceus.
The base is decorated with a central urn surrounded by two griffins and laurel wreaths on the sides.
The clock rests on a sea-green marble base with 4 flattened ball feet.
The movement operates for one week, striking the hours and 1/2 hours, and is suspended by a wire. White enamel dial with slight lack of enamel at the winding squarev, blued steel hands.
The bronzes are finely chased and gilded with their original mercury gilding. The original green patina shows a small but unimportant weakness due to age, making the patina a little lighter.
Empire period, circa 1805.
Dimensions: height 37 cm, width 18.5 cm, depth 11.5 cm

Note: this model of bollard was very popular under the Empire and is still highly prized by enthusiasts due to its refinement.
The signatures of famous bronzemakers such as C.GALLE or RAVRIO are often associated with this model, which allows us to attribute our clock to one of these two bronzemakers without great difficulty.
