Empire "APOLLON" gilt bronze clock signed Denière et Matelin fabricants de bronzes.

Gilt bronze clock with mythological theme representing APOLLON circa 1820 by the bronziers DENIERE and MATELIN.
The clock features the allegory of music with Apollo playing the lyre, a wreath of flowers, a torch and a cythara.
The base is decorated with a frieze of raies-de-coeur, rose wreaths, arrows, ribbons, laurel branches, swans and butterflies, all attributes of music. A terminal decorated with a garland of roses and torches receives the movement. The clock rests on 4 chased and gilded ball-shaped feet.

The movement strikes the hours and half-hours on a wire suspension, and the advance and delay are set by a knob on the back of the movement.

The white enamel dial, with Roman numerals, is in excellent condition and signed "Denière et Matelin Fabts de bronzes à Paris". The blued steel hands are "bréguet" type.

Beautiful chasing and original mercury gilding with shiny (burnished with agate) and matte effects. Very good condition. Dial in excellent condition.
Revised movement works very well. The clock is complete with pendulum, bell and key.

Bronze manufacturers Denière et Matelin: founded in 1797 by DENIIERE ET MATELIN PARFrancois-Thomas Matelin (1759-1815) and Jean-François DENIERE (1774-1866)at 58 rue Turenne, they specialized in the manufacture of furniture bronzes, clocks and mercury gilding, supplying the Milan Royal Furniture Guard and the imperial regime. In 1811, they supplied palaces and castles through merchants and colleagues such as Galle, Ravrio, Feuchère... Collaboration ceased in April 1820. shipment by UPS or DHL.
