Rare finely chased ormolu clock called "La Lanterne Magique", representing two children surrounding the dial inserted in a lantern, resting on a balustrade base with blue tinted glass bottom, itself on a white marble base, enamelled dial signed Roques* in Paris, from the Louis XVI 18th century period.
This clock is in very good condition and is of exceptional quality. Dial and movement signed by clockmaker Joseph-Léonard Roque (received master in 1770, died after 1789). It works, we have the balance wheel but not the key.
This model is referenced in P. Kjellberg's "Encyclopédie de la pendule française".
Please note: small crack in the blue glass on the right-hand side (not very visible), some dirt on the bronze, scratches and ageing, see photos.
