Large chased bronze ormolu clock on an Italian griotte marble base, depicting Anacreon in low relief, seated on a seat in the ancient Greek style, holding his lyre, a winged love at his side, and a wine cup on a stele to his right.
The sides are adorned with masks, crossed spears and Bacchus attributes,
The base is decorated with two griffins guarding the contents of the urn they are leaning against.
It stands on 4 flattened ball feet.
White enameled dial signed by Manière in Paris, framed by a frieze of grapevines and vine leaves.
The 8-day movement chimes the hours and half-hours, and is suspended by a wire.

The bronzes are attributed to Claude Galle (the decoration of leaning griffins is often repeated on clocks, particularly those by C. Galle). This model is also signed on the RAVRIO dial. The clock features swans instead of winged griffins.
