Mantelpiece with 3 pieces, a clock and 2 urns, in bronze with gold and silver patina, on a black and red marble base.
This Greek Revival-inspired set features numerous references to mythology and the Greek world. The bust enthroned on the clock represents the Greek hero Menelaus, with a richly decorated helmet and lions' heads on the sides; the bust is signed Re. On Sauvage
The urns are decorated with lions' heads, sphynges and medallions with portraits of illustrious men. They stand on pedestals and were originally mounted as lamps.
The dial is signed "Dufay Valin Angers".
The movement is stamped "Japy Grande médaille d'honneur Exposition 1855".
Good overall condition: some wear to the patina, a few chips to the marble; mechanism not guaranteed, to be overhauled.
Dimensions:
Pendulum, height 70 cm 37 x 19cm (bronze only H42cm)
Urns, height 43 cm 20.5 x 12.5cm (urns alone H25cm)
