Spelter fireplace garnish on a marble base, composed of a pendulum surmounted by a large statue illustrating neptune and two vases depicting sinners surrounded by waves and sea birds.
Signed Louis (1855-1919) and François (1857-1930) Moreau, the main work represents the God of the Seas carrying his trident standing on his chariot, pulled by sea horses. The lower part has a working clock with a key, presenting a dial painted with floral motifs and the Chevassu brand "Lorient-Brest-Nantes". A plaque is attached to the base where the following words appear: "Neptune by L. & F. Moreau, Mlle d´Or".
On each Vase, a Whaler seems to be fighting against the elements in order to complete his mission.
This Spelter Fireplace Set is based on a Gray-veined White Marble with a recess.
