This tabernacle veil, red sateen lining, presents a pelican in Glory in its center. This central motif is sewn with gold thread and the whole of this beautiful piece is bordered with a braid and fringes in gold thread.

The symbol of the pelican, a Christ figure if ever there was one, blends perfectly with this veil which covers the tabernacle, receptacle of the consecrated hosts.

A 19th century work, probably from the Chatel et Tassinari house in Lyon, founded in 1680 in Lyon.

An infrequent liturgical object, as it has almost fallen into disuse. The veil indeed masked the aesthetics of the tabernacle.

Here, however, we touch on the very essence of the biblical tabernacle which was, before the construction of the Temple, a mobile tent.

It is in a way, a tabernacle in its old meaning which covers... the tabernacle of a consecrated place.

As in the Old Testament, the tabernacle is the inviolable House of God. No one enters it.

Dimensions of 69 cm high by 79 cm wide.

Good condition, however note a few holes.
