Rare table nave in finely chased solid German silver (800, Hanau hallmarks most likely), in the form of a ship mounted on 4 wheels, decorated with a marine procession with Amphitrite* seated on a dolphin, surrounded by her retinue (numerous cherubs, tritons and mermaids), among reeds and blowing into conches, rudder chased with dolphins, from the 19th century.
This nave is in good condition, superb quality. Hallmarked (see photos) + import control stamp. The interior is vermeiled (worn).
This nave is inspired by bottle cooler models made in Augsburg (late 16th and 17th centuries).
Please note: some slight dents and deformations, soiling, scratches and wear, see photos.

* In Greek mythology, Amphitrite is a Nereid, daughter of Nereus and Doris (or Dione, according to some late sources), and wife of Poseidon. According to Homer, Amphitrite also begat seals. For Aelian, she is also the mother of dolphins. From her union with Poseidon came the fish-tailed sea god Triton. This makes her, through her son, the grandmother of Pallas and sometimes of Scylla and the newts. She is often depicted accompanied by dolphins and tritons, and sometimes by other Nereids, in scenes evoking a marine procession.
