The spoon-warmer is a table utensil used to keep the stuffing spoon or serving spoon warm. The spoon was inserted through the opening into the hot water in the container.

At a time when kitchens were generally located far from dining rooms, it was very important that food be kept warm while it was brought into the rarely heated dining rooms.

In addition to the wide variety of dishes with a hot water compartment, the delightful spoon warmers were invented.

Filled with hot water in the kitchen, they were brought to the table with the serving spoon(s) which were kept there until used and thus kept warm.
