Christofle-Gallia silver-plated metal and crystal centerpiece from the Art Nouveau period.
The stand can be grasped by two elegant scroll-shaped handles, with an oval flower in relief on either side.
The upper rim is highly agitated, with four waves alternating with four hollows. A garland of roses on three-leaf stems encircles the rim. Equidistant from the two handles at the top of a wave, a delicate three-leaf branch pointing downwards embellishes the profile. At the base of each wave is a wreath of the same roses as those around the edge. Each wreath is in line with one of the four feet, itself surmounted by a large leaf, highlighted by a rounded edge that accentuates the relief. A double-ribbed border runs around the base between each motif.
The silver-plated metal base shows a few minor scratches. The underside of the feet shows a small amount of silvering, which cannot be seen when the object is in place. (photo 9)
The inner vessel is in crystal, embellished as is often the case with long star-shaped flames.
The whole is in very good condition, with a beautiful brilliance.
A pure product of Art Nouveau, this centerpiece has the originality of being circular, whereas many of its contemporaries were oval. It will undoubtedly embellish your table without overloading it.
