Silver-plated chafing dish or stove, circa 1900.
The set consists of the dish itself, its lid, and the metal structure that supports it, which also holds a small alcohol stove.
The lid is adorned with the motto "Without fear", probably that of a noble or bourgeois house. This motto is inscribed below a hand brandishing a sword.
The interior of the Chafing dish is compartmentalized by a removable triple partition.
The diameter of the object is 26.5cm, and the total dimensions, including the blackened wooden handle, are 40cm.
Goldsmith's hallmark under the rim of the container and that of the lid.
The set is in fine condition and highly decorative, as well as being perfectly usable (all you need to do is find a wick for the stove).
Note: silvering missing from the lid grip, from the underside of the container and from the base of the wooden grip, which is slightly loose. Small dents under the container and under the stove. All these defects are visible in photos, but are rather discreet and hardly noticeable in use.
Available for collection in Montpellier, Marseille, Avignon and surrounding areas, and can be shipped in very careful packaging.
