Elegant basin decorated with a frieze of water leaves, lined with a large frieze of vine leaves, bunches of grapes and florets. The ewer, decorated with a superb swan, frequently used for toilet "furniture", highlights the theme of water. A head of Bacchus, at the beginning of the handle, completes the theme of the vine.
This set, magnificently executed by Adolphe Boulenger, is directly inspired by the swan ewer and basin delivered by Martin Guillaume Bienais for the Palais des Tuileries in 1802, today preserved at the Louvre.
