Living room furniture composed of 6 large Queen-style armchairs in finely carved and molded beech. Our set is indeed a homogeneous living room of 6 identical seats, and not a collection of similar models. Parisian work from the Louis XVI period of good quality, circa 1780.
Unstamped, these beautiful and large seats are characterized by perfect lines and curves, careful finishes with fine sculpture and great originality in the sculpted motifs of garlands and laurel falls, and particularly in that of the openwork escutcheon at the top folder. If we are generally used to finding this motif on neo Louis XVI decor from the 19th century, our seats are indeed authentic works from the 18th century. That is to say original pieces, a source of inspiration for the pastiches which followed and not copies. However, it was often the greatest cabinetmakers and carpenters who were copied. Finally, the grain of the beech used for the wood is fine and without any defects.
All these elements reinforce our opinion that these seats are the work of a great Parisian seat carpenter. It could be Jean Baptiste Lelarge or another artist of equivalent quality.
The whole is in very good condition.
The silk is well preserved, without wear and stain. healthy structures without play, with no broken parts repaired.
These beautiful seats have been re-lacquered as originally and re-patinated.
