Suite of 6 handsome beechwood caned chairs richly carved with rocaille, shell and foliage motifs, the legs with snail scrolls, the seats and back caned. They are covered with a Louis XV-style cushion upholstered in green silk (double-sided, i.e. reversible). Late Regency or early Louis XV Parisian work. Mid 18th century, circa 1750.

A fine model, well-proportioned, generously carved, unstamped, they are the work of a good master chair joiner, follower of Cresson.

In excellent condition, the chairs have been cleaned and rewaxed, the caning is in very good condition (2 seats have been refinished), and the silk is new.
