Georges Jacob and Jacob Desmalter (1803-1813): chair stamped from the Empire period

Chair with grid back, comprising five bars, type 7B (Jacob's classification of its different models), resting on two front double baluster legs separated by a ring, and two rear Etruscan saber legs.
Presence of delivery and inventory labels under the seat.
Stamped Jacob. D. Rue Meslée (stamp used by the company Jacob et Cie, association between Georges Jacob and his son François Honoré Georges Jacob Desmalter between 1803 and 1813).

These models of chair with a grid back were offered by Jacob Desmalter in several variants, sometimes in mahogany, sometimes in mahogany-stained walnut.
This chair is identical to a set of 28, in walnut, listed in the Mobilier National reserves under the inventory number GMT–7683–019, described as such: “from a set delivered to the apartments of the Emperor in Rambouillet, walnut in imitation of mahogany. Nine of these chairs are kept at the Marmottan museum (Inventory number 215 to 223), there is also a series of four at Versailles.

Very good state of conservation.
Beautiful yellow fabric trim with a scattering of stars and a Greek vase for the central motif.
