Superb collector's item for this mahogany chair from a series of sixty chairs ordered from the company Jacob Desmalter rue Meslée and delivered to the Château de Fontainebleau in May 1806.
The latter were intended for study rooms, rest rooms in stables or dining rooms.
Fire mark of the Château de Fontainebleau as well as that of the stables present on this chair.
The stencil numbers show us the presence of this chair in the castle, during the inventory of 1817 and that of 1833. Remember that the inventory of 1807-1808 did not include a number.
A third inventory number, also beginning with F, too faded to be reliably identified.
This very beautiful piece stamped JACOB D. R. MESLÉE. Stamp used by the prestigious association of Georges Jacob (1735-1814) and his son François Honoré Georges Jacob Desmalter (1770-1841) between 1803 and 1813.

Very good state of conservation, with slight restorations and signs of use.

Dimensions:
Height 88cm
Depth 45cm
Width 44.5cm
Seat height 46 cm

The order from which this chair came is illustrated and detailed in the book by Jean Pierre Samoyault (former curator of the furniture at the Château de Fontainebleau), Mobilier Français Consulat et Empire, page 255.
