Most of his work is in the Louis XVI style, with medallion, square or basket-handle backs, rigorous lines and tapered legs with curved flutes.Chevigny carried out numerous commissions: for the Duc de Choiseul at the Château de Chanteloup - for whom he notably delivered a salon set comprising gilded wood seats carved with interlacing and acanthus leaves, a sofa, two bergères and basket-handle-back armchairs - and also for the Duc de Montmorency (18th-century furniture and cabinetmaker).
