Here is a curious Italian bench made of carved wood that meets all the codes of neoclassicism at the end of the 18th century. Its shape is not common in France but is nevertheless regularly found in Italy, Austria and England in the 18th century. Low and comfortable, the seat conceals a lockable chest. The armrests are large scrolls in carved and gilded wood, decorated with fat and nicely carved acanthus leaves. The refinement of this bench all sides goes up to present, under the scrolls, other acanthus leaves in gilded wood, very well treated. Unique and atypical bench in very good condition. Some stains on the pale yellow corduroy fabric.
