Elegant and highly decorative model of a duchesse brisée (broken duchess) in 2 parts, a Parisian work from the Louis XVI period, whose production can be compared to the models executed by Adrien-Pierre Dupain, master carpenter, in 1772. A very similar "duchesse brisée" model is preserved at the Château de la Motte Tilly in the Aube region, featuring the "chapeau" shape that crowns the backrests, "drawing two ascending curves that are stopped by a low arched pediment, a disposition called "à chapeau" by the Cabinet des Modes of March 1786".
Neoclassical molding and ornamentation, including gadroon carvings on the tops of the backrests, 4-leaf rosettes on the connecting dice, striated background on the backrests, fluting and rudentures on the armrests and legs.
A comfortable, spacious model that can be used as a daybed.
Seat wood in good condition, stable and solid, the upholstery has just been redone, as have the feather cushions, and the whole has been covered with a fabric from Casal, nature imaginaire coton, collection Lauréats, this fabric was awarded the Prix Toile de Jouy 2020-prix public- imagined by Coralie Camarassa Ferreira. Studded finish based on the "fusarolle" motif from the neoclassical repertoire, alternating shuttles and pearls.
