2-seater convertible sofa in carved and lacquered wood, back in gendarme hat. 18th century Aubusson tapestry in polychrome wool and silk decorated with flowers on a village background.
Beautiful Parisian production from the end of the Louis XVI period, lined with a very fine tapestry in excellent condition which has kept its fresh colors.
Very good original condition; this seat has been completely restored: completely unraveled, reassembled, tapestry removed, doubled and reinforced by a canvas sewn on the reverse to ensure its solidity, then the whole thing completely reassembled. 18th century tapestries are very fragile and dry out over time and tear each other apart. This has been saved to extend its lifespan by 100 years with occasional use. The restoration that was done was expensive, but it is the best there is.
Beautiful collector's item,
NB: we also sell a pair of convertible armchairs in Aubusson tapestry (same level of quality for the restoration of the tapestry) which can be used to form a matching set.
Height: 91cm (seat: 41cm)
