Pair of Louis XV period caned cabriolet armchairs. Beautifully decorated with generous, bold moldings. They are upholstered with an emerald-green silk cushion in the Louis XV style. Everything about these armchairs is elegant and exquisitely tasteful: carving, curves, counter-curves, correct proportions. Unsurprisingly, it bears the stamp of a great 18th-century Parisian chair joiner: Sulpice Brizard.

Sulpice Brizard (1733-after 1796) - carpenter (master's degree obtained February 13, 1762) - who distinguished himself as a representative of the Louis XV, Transition and Louis XVI styles. Our chairs date from the first part of his career, circa 1762.

In very good condition; caning in good condition, upholstered as new in this beautiful green silk, of which we have acquired a large yardage, enabling us to offer several matching Louis XV seats to form a substantial ensemble.
