Large Queen's armchair used as an office chair, beautiful, very architectural ceremonial model with pilaster uprights topped with exploded pomegranates. It is lined with slate blue wool velvet. Delaporte stamp. Louis XVI period, around 1780.
Martin-Nicolas Delaporte (Died December 20, 1784) - carpenter of seats. Master on April 24, 1765. Belonging to a large family of Parisian carpenters, Martin Nicolas Delaporte was a very good maker of seats. Brother of Antoine Nicolas, he worked on rue des Fille-Dieu, having taken over the workshop of his uncle, Martin, as well as his stamp. In 1781, he made wood bunks for the stables of the Count of Artois.
Very good condition, healthy and free joinery with usual restorations. The armchair was re-lacquered in the 20th century and covered in a slate blue wool velvet in very good house condition.
