Fauteuil à la Reine used as an office armchair, a fine, finely carved model, the back in the shape of a "chapeau de gendarme", the armrests in the shape of a leafy baluster, resting on 4 fluted feet. This is a refined production from the late Louis XVI period, a Parisian work by a good chair carpenter, but unfortunately not stamped, which makes it impossible to identify the author with certainty. However, 3 years ago, we sold a pair of Boulard chairs of very similar workmanship, which is a clue to attribution.
For this beautiful collector's chair, we had a very fine ruby-red silk velvet chased in the Genoese style. It is new (never installed), although it dates from the late 19th century, with matching braiding. The table and knife-blade upholstery is made of horsehair. The chair is upholstered on straps underneath.
Very good condition, with sound joinery and no play, but with some minor restorations.
