Louis XVI / Directoire period armchair. Late XVIIIth circa 1790. In the taste of Georges JACOB. The armchair is in beech and has its original lacquer. It stands on four spindle-shaped legs with flutes and capitals. The connecting dice are carved with rosettes. The seat belt features hollowed and fluted crosspieces, except at the back. The front crossbeam is curved and protruding. The arm brackets are recessed, with swollen, fluted balusters, resting on a dice decorated with a triglyph. The armrests with cuffs end in a fluted roundel and connect to the backrest via a fluted die. The backrest is curved, trapezoidal in shape, with detached columns carved with fluting and topped by cassolettes with gadrooned lids and knobs. The back frame is adorned with a string of pearls.
