Large high-backed salon armchair in natural beech, still very Louis XIV while embracing the beginnings of the new Rocaille fashion and openwork Bérain-style decorations with 4 legs without struts. Parisian work from the late Regency or early Louis XV period (1710-20).
It is characterized by the richness and finesse of its carving, and the accuracy of its very elegant proportions. Unstamped, it is the work of a great Parisian chair joiner.
Our armchair has been upholstered from new in superb Regency-style purple and gold silk with a shell motif by Tassinari et Châtel. Reupholstered in animal hair on straps (original).
The seat is in excellent condition, over 300 years old. Superb condition.
