    Rare pair of mahogany and mahogany veneer armchairs, molded and carved, with flat framed backs, armrests adorned with geometric motifs and palmettes, arched and fluted sheath consoles in the continuation of the front saber feet, the rear feet also saber feet (minor accidents and wear).
    Stamped Georges Jacob, master in Paris in 1765.

    An armchair with the same general silhouette, but with an escutcheon back and carved lion heads at the end of the armrests, was sold at Ader-Picard-Tajan (December 11, 1998, lot 93, later re-sold at Sotheby's). An office armchair with the same silhouette, featuring very similar arms, brackets and legs, sold at Sotheby's on November 10, 2009 ("Important French Furniture and Sculpture", lot 256).
