    Description:

This pair of Louis XVI period armchairs stands out for its refinement. The medallion backs, finely carved in molded and lacquered beechwood, rest on tapered, fluted legs, giving these chairs a timeless elegance. The dynamic design of the armrest supports adds a touch of liveliness to the ensemble.

These armchairs, stamped by Denis Jullienne, exemplify exceptional French craftsmanship from around 1780. They are in excellent condition, with original lacquer showing wear that enhances their charm and authenticity. Newly upholstered in a floral-patterned yellow lampas fabric, they blend tradition and modernity.

    Biography of Denis Jullienne:

Denis Jullienne, a Parisian cabinetmaker, was granted master status on July 31, 1775. Likely a descendant of another Denys Julienne, who was an upholsterer for Louis XIV and the Duke of Burgundy in the early 18th century, he established his workshop on rue de Charenton. Specializing in the creation of bed frames and seating, he worked for the renowned Presle brothers, who commissioned pieces for the Marquis de Girardin. His workshop remained active until 1805.

His works, signed either "D. IULLIENNE" or "D. JULLIENNE," attest to his enduring talent and success.
