Beautiful pair of queen-style armchairs in lacquered wood with rich, very finely carved decoration of ribbon knots and fluting. Beautiful quality model: finely carved rosettes on the connecting dice. Parisian work from the Louis XVI period; both seats bear the characteristic stamp of Adrien-Pierre Dupain. ,
Adrien-Pierre Dupain, a skilled furniture carpenter, under Louis XVI, he obtained orders for the royal residences and, in particular, for the Queen's service at the Château de Saint-Cloud.
Received as a master in Paris in 1772, this skilled carpenter established himself on rue de Charonne. Adrien-Pierre Dupain obtained orders from the court and produced seats for Marie Antoinette, for the Château de Saint-Cloud. He also supplied many upholsterers and furniture dealers. Its production, slowed down during the Revolution, resumed actively until the beginning of the Empire. All its seats, in the Louis XVI style, were well proportioned, sculpted with care and finesse. The backs of most of his armchairs were medallion, basket handle or hat.
Our seats have been completely restored to new, and are in excellent condition. We have preserved the original old lacquer. The tomato red (or dark coral) colored silk faille is a superior quality silk which is characterized by its great strength (silk weaving is much denser per cm⊃2; than satin or damask). Everything is enhanced with tone-on-tone braid with an old-fashioned panel trim mounted in horsehair on straps. Our upholsterer put all his talent and passion into restoring these seats by hand.
