Temple ridge ornament known, according to interpretations, as "Garuda" (Sanskrit: Eagle), mount of the god Vishnu or "Hong/Hamsa" (Thai: Hong /Sanskrit: Hamsa) representing the mythical bird or swan/goose, animal vehicle (vâhana) of the god Brahma.
Carved wood, vestige of red and gold polychromy (Colors of Brahma). Beautiful patina marked with vestiges of lichens.
Thailand, late 18th / early 19th century.
Delivered with its white or black steel base, adjustable inclination of the shofa.
Provenance: Estate of the collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau.
