The Buddha represented in the Jambupati manifestation. Seated in dhyanasana on a multi-level throne, dressed in regal garb and adorned with jewels. With his right hand in bhumisparsa mudra, his serene face is covered by an elaborate crown flanked by two flamboyant panels.
Covered in black lacquer and gilding.
Good condition: only the base shows signs of weathering.
Burma (Myanmar), Shan State, late 18th / early 19th century.
Provenance: Estate of dealer and collector Claude de Marteau.
