    Flemish school
    Boxwood Christ
    Late 16th - Early 17th Century

    Beautiful, finely carved boxwood Christ.
The face is turned towards the sky and the hair is superbly rendered.
The knotted perizonium on the left is remarkable for the finesse of its carving, as are the arms and legs.
The non-joined feet and the presence of four wrought-iron nails place this work in the mid-17th century.

Christ's total height is 28cm, arm opening 19cm.
