"Behold the man". These were the words used by Pontius Pilate when he presented Jesus to the crowd outside the Praetorium.
Our flat-back polychrome wooden sculpture depicts Him standing, crowned with thorns and cloaked, both hands tied with rope.
On the back is engraved 1740, accompanied by a capital G and the name BELLAERT, probably referring to the sculptor who worked on it.
Dimensions: 80 cm high by 28 wide and 15 cm deep.
Condition as used - major cracks at the feet and neck - small chips and gaps.
