Côte d'Ivoire, Yaouré people, circa 1950, superb hardwood dance mask with dark brown patina from the "Dyé" society, symbolizing "Yu" or spiritual power. It represents a human face with a collar, topped by two totemic birds. The carving is remarkable. The facial features are finely drawn, giving off a deep sense of interiority.
