* Villanis Emmanuel (1858-1914):
born of Italian parents, he worked in France and exhibited at the Salon from 1886. Very influenced by the Art Nouveau spirit, he produced countless subjects, mostly female figures. Most are cast in bronze and also in variously tinted metal, often in several dimensions, or even in several versions. On the other hand, he exhibited at the Salon before 1914 only one bronze in Bronze "Judith" (1898), and plasters. Many bronze proofs signed by Villanis are in commerce and in public sales. Many statuettes evoke music. The stamp of the Société des bronzes de Paris appears frequently. (extract Les bronzes du XIXème siècle, by P.Kjellberg).
Artist very well rated on ArtPrice.
