Max Blondat (1872-1925) is an emblematic sculptor of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco period. Max Blondat was born in Crain in 1872, he entered as an apprentice to an ornamental sculptor in 1886, in 1889 he began his art studies at the Germain-Pillon school and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1890, in 1892 he entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Then he exercised his talents in various fields: He worked all types of materials: wood, stone, glass, bronze, and made many utilitarian pieces such as door knockers, radiator caps, ashtrays, etc. He made ceramics with Edmond Lachenal for the Sèvres factory, ironwork with Edgard Brandt, and also created jewelry for Hermès.
