Gaston HAUCHECORNE (1880 - 1945) Cast terra cotta proof with patina, representing an elderly couple, the man holding his wife's hand.
Certainly Asian figures, a subject very representative of the artist's work. Group signed lower right on the side of the former's dress.

Very good condition.
Period: Art Deco.

Biography :

Born in Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) in 1880 and died in Paris in 1945. From the early '20s, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and took part in the Marseille Colonial Exhibition in 1922. He exhibited a number of classical subjects, as well as Far Eastern figures... treated with naturalism and humor. He was a teacher and interpreter in Peking and director of the Chongqing consulate. The models are executed in natural terracotta or lost-wax bronze
by Susse, or sometimes edited by Lehmann.
