Édouard Drouot is a French artist known for his bronze and marble sculptures of allegorical and mythological scenes. Sometimes creating animal and orientalist works, Drouout's sculptures, whether of animals or people, are characterized by a sense of movement and an expressive touch. Born on April 3, 1859 in Sommevoire, France, he studied with the folk artist Mathurin Moreau at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1889. Today, Drouot’s work can be found in the collections of the Courtauld Institute in London and the Indiana University Museum of Art in Bloomington, among others. The artist died in 1945 in Paris.*
