    This antique modeling in clay or plaster is from the Michel Caryl Workshop, the whole is decorative. It is a neoclassical decoration of fine workmanship.
    Female figure dressed in a belted chiton under the chest and which reveals the right breast.
    The position of the feet, the twisting of the upper body and the clothing revealing her anatomy allow us to interpret this figure as a dancing maenad.
    The statuette is inspired by a famous work by Lysippos, in bronze, created around 320 BC, representing the poetess Prassilla, from Sicyon, dancing and playing the flute to accompany her bacchic songs.
    It is perhaps the same statue that Pliny, Natural History, XXXIV, describes under the name of the "temulenta tibicina", the drunken aulos player.
