    The Enlightened One seated in Virasana on the serpent Mucilinda (Muchalinda), whose seven heads once formed a canopy above the Buddha.

    The story goes that while meditating under the great sacred fig tree, the Bhodi, a downpour fell on Gautama Buddha for seven days. The king of snakes, Mucalinda, appeared from the depths of the earth to protect the Enlightened One.
