Japan, 1930s, very pretty and unusual traditional "Ningyo" doll featuring a young water-carrying girl dressed in a kimono and wearing a traditional headdress. The head and hands are in porcelain. The doll is housed in a glass and wood case with a mirror on the wooden base, so that the subject can be viewed from both sides at a glance. The ensemble is superb, refined and well-preserved.
