    Hippolyte François Moreau, 1832-1927, French sculptor famous for his bronze statues of young women. Born in Dijon, son and pupil of the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Moreau. He studied with Francois Jouffroy at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français from 1863 to 1914. In 1878 and 1900, he won medals for his decorative works which he exhibited at the Universal Exhibition in Paris.
    He died in 1927 in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Many of his works are in the Dijon Museum of Fine Arts.
    Signed and titled on the embankment. Height: 85 cm (64 cm of sculpture and 21 cm of base in tied spelter). Base: diameter 26 cm.
