Narcissus of Pompeii.
Porcelain cookie sculpture.
20th century. Manufacture Gustavsberg Sweden.
Based on the antique discovered in Pompeii in 1862.
Initially identified as a Narcissus, it is now presented at the Naples Archaeological Museum (inv.5003) as a Dionysus.
Perfect condition.
Height 55 cm.

Standing Dionysus, nude, crowned with flowers, a nebride thrown over his left shoulder, wearing high laced sandals, discovered in Pompeii in June 1862 "Vico del Balcone Pensile in the Casa di Narcisso, near the entrance".
