Bronze rain drum with brown/green archaeological patina. The tympanum is richly decorated with several concentric registers separated by listels, decorated in the center with a twelve-pointed star and decorated with 4 pairs of frogs at the cardinal points, a symbol of fertility. Geometric patterns, flowers, fish, etc. can be seen under the patina and concretions. Flanked by two pairs of handles and a pair of elephants.
Probably Burma or Laos, 19th century.
