Superb and Important Sculpture Buste in Patinated Plaster, Representing Madame La Comtesse Du Barry from L'Oeuvre Conservée au Louvres.
This Buste Drapé à l'Antique sur l'Epaule Gauche, L'Epaule Droite Dénudée Represent Jeanne Becu Dite Madame La Comtesse du Barry, Dernière Favorite du Roi Louis XV. As a token of his love, Louis XV had the Château de Louveciennes built for her.
Sculpture d'Après Augustin PAJOU, is one of the most important sculptors of the second half of the French 18th century. He worked for the Château de Versailles. Sculptor to the King in 1760, he is recognized as a portraitist, executing busts including that of Madame La Comtesse du Barry. It brought him instant fame.
