Alabaster sculpture of a young woman standing on a rock in a swaying pose, holding a flower near a rock. Sculpture signed "G Gambogi" on the base.

Giuseppe GAMBOGI (Pisa 1862- Florence 1938). Italian sculptor trained at the Academia della Belle Arte in Florence between 1901 and 1912. He explored classical orientalist and romantic subjects, with a predilection for mythological and feminine themes. His sculptures in marble and alabaster reflect the idealized human beauty in vogue during the Belle Epoque.
